LVP

LVP is a great affordable option to achieve the look of hardwood without the maintenance and hassle of installation.

Each plank is made up of different layers. On top is a UV layer, then a wear layer, then a picture of the wood, then a layer of PVC (plastic).

There are other options for LVP like WPC and SPC

WPC is the most waterproof option because instead of the PVC layer it is made of a wood mixture and creates a springy, comfortable feel.

SPC has a stone polymer mixture layer to add more durability and water resistance.

Can it be refinished?

No, it is plastic. It is composed of a scratch-resistant wear layer, a decorative/image layer, and a durable flexible backing layer of PVC.

Benifits

Some benefits of having LVP are that it is waterproof, durable, and scratch-proof. It's the easiest to maintain out of the options. Plus it's a great option for a DIY project.

Disadvatages

The wear layer and UV layer of the floor could be thin which can be prone to dents and make it easier to fade in the sun. Making sure you get good quality LVP is important to ensure it will last for years to come.
